Joshua Hughes graduate of Mathematics at Howard University, minoring in Secondary Education. Josh plans to use his mathematical abilities to help the growth of black-owned businesses (including ARTIVISM) before eventually retiring to become a high school math teacher. Josh spent time teaching preventative messaging to the youth at Howard’s Middle School (Anti-Gun, Anti-Violence, Anti-Drug, through creative expression) and teachers data

analytics and entrepreurship all across the DMV. He's worked at Aurora Market and Sankofa Video Books & Café where he built meaningful relationships within the local community. Josh is also the Executive Director and Liaison for Men of the Mecca at Howard University. Creatively known as JusJosh, he is recognized as

one of the top budding artists in Washington DC, performing at and hosting countless events and concerts.

Joshua Hughes is a Senior studying Mathematics at Howard University minoring in Secondary Education. Josh’s father owns a merchandise production company, in which young Josh spent many hours helping his Dad process, print, and ship out lines of apparel. Josh plans to use his mathematical abilities to help the growth of black-owned businesses (including ARTIVISM) before eventually retiring to become a high school math teacher. Josh’s current occupation goes beyond teaching as he also held six jobs over the past summer. Josh spent time teaching preventative messaging to the youth at Howard’s Middle School (Anti-Gun, Anti-Violence, Anti-Drug, through creative expression) and was teaching data analytics to DC Public High Schoolers. He worked at Aurora Market and Sankofa Video Books & Café where he built meaningful relationships within the local community. Joshua serves as an Executive Director for Men of the Mecca Initiative. Josh is also the Vice-President and Co-Head of Music for 360CreativitySavesLives. His compassion for others is a key aspect in the organization’s ability to attract new members. Creatively known as JusJosh, he is recognized as one of the top artists on Howard’s campus, performing at countless events and concerts. Josh has been awarded scholarships and cash prizes for his talent and is a popular host for events including open mics and the Homecoming Fashion Show. JusJosh’s most recent album entitled (He)Art, reflects how he pours his heart into the passion of his creativity and “He” (being Josh) is in fact the “Art” himself. The album is lyrically dense with storytelling and affirmations. Josh’s holistic approach to music has become the blueprint for the ARTIVISM business model. Having the ability to record his own project and being connected to his Dad’s merchandise company became an opportunity to create products such as t-shirts, hats, and hoodies based on the cover art of his album. From there, he’s performed at countless venues and local businesses to spread his positive message and gain support along the way, as people who were touched by his art engaged and purchased his products. This experience proved that artists can be successful in the music business by building a community and platform of their own- as long as they had the machine to do so, and thus ARTIVISM was born.
